Over on a couple of days work and added social as first time in Gibraltar. Recommended this place by my work colleagues and they gave me a cracking choice. Although there is hotel works currently in place these do not put off your stay, this hotel is a perfect location and venue for your trip to Gibraltar.
Nice friendly arrival had one of the new rooms, which was very comfortable indeed, free wifi, swimming pool etc. Used the restaurant/bar in the evenings for food, everything I had very nice and reasonable with each evening different entertainment. I should have gone out for a different venue but the hotel entertainment of flamingo dancing and good music on the other evenings I had no need. There appears each evening always something different and its clearly advertised.
As I said, location is excellent with more or less central to the town and the shopping Main Street. Cable car is about 12 minutes away to the fantastic Top of the Rock; the Popular Casement Square is also about ten minutes with good restaurants, pubs and the famous Gibraltar Glass Factory.
I loved the stay here, a very good hotel indeed and would strongly recommend indeed. Thank you for a great stay and welcome.
We had an Amazing stay with you at the Eliot, we have stayed before the refurbishment and can honestly say the hotel gets better each time.
The food was simply delicious (compliments to the chef) and the staff were friendly and accommodating for all our needs.
Our Rooms were two of the refurbished levels and very clean and decorated to a high standard with good facilities and serviced very well.
Entertainment was of a high quality and throughly enjoyable.
We will be coming back again this year as our family are Gibraltarian, which is the reason we have always stayed before with you.

Friendly staff and floor manager. Great family atmosphere. Rooftop pool and live music on the veranda on Fridays. Saturdays there is live music on the local public stage next door so weekends are pretty lively. Food is good and fresh, portions are generous. 4 star hotel that's on the way to 5 star.

We have just returned from a 3 night mini break at this hotel.
To begin the hotel is very well located in the centre of town, and although the hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment it did not cause us any bother at all, we were worried about some of the very negative reviews recently, but as I have said we had no bother, bearing in mind that for most visitors it would be likely that they would be out and about in Gibraltar when the works were being carried out, (i.e. as advised to us between 9am and 6pm).
Breakfast was excellent with no problems regarding anything that any resident wanted, fresh fruit, breads, the "usual" fry goodies and very good yoghurt's.
Our room was one that had been refurbished with an enormous bed, along with free safety deposit box, large flat screen TV with all the channels one needed and finally a brand new bathroom.
Oh I nearly forgot to mention the rooftop terrace area, which although having a lot of work being done at present even though it at present does not have bar/cafe/restaurant there, it does have a great swimming pool that I can highly recommend, even though it was November.
I love the new rooms. They are really tasteful and well designed and great to stay in.The colour scheme is so good , the bed great and the pillow far better than other hotels. I was there 4 nights and it was totally comfortable except the terrible weather made it cold and the heating did not work. They brought me a small heater which worked wonderfully. The staff are all great. It was a really good stay .totally enjoyable and the noise did not intrude at all.
Please, please get the food better. It is not good. The tastes are terrible. Breakfast is fine. coffee could be lots better but the rest of the food I tried was pretty much inedible so I had to go out all the time. I think you just do not realise how important really good food is to a place..I mean good. There is now good food in Gibraltar and you should join in that, The weather was bad and a nice ,cosy eating room with great food would have been a treasure.I applaud the rest that you are doing. Wonderful work.
Room was a nice size and very clean. The staff were very friendly. There was a little noise from the adjoining room - but not too much of a problem. We were not affected at all by the refurbishment works that were being undertaken. The breakfast was good, and the lounge staff very friendly.
A gorgeous, elegant hotel with great new renovated rooms. Despite there is still some renovation going on, I must say that there was no noise at all. The stay was great – congratulations to the new rooms: they are very spacious and stylish. And the bed is the best, with a King Koil mattress, which is just fabulous.
The hotel is perfectly located in the center – so you have everything within walking distance. The staff is top-notch – very friendly and extremely helpful.

If in Gibraltar again, I will definitely be back!
We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and yes there is noise and some disruption during the building works. Don't forget all the work is needed to improve the hotel.
The building work does not over shadow the fact that this is the best located hotel in Gibraltar and all the staff do their best to make your stay great.
The hotel is close to all attractions, Casements Square. Trafalgar Cemetery, Alameda Gardens.The cable car. and many places to eat. Not that you'll have to go looking for food as the Elliots chefs and bar team are tops.
The reasons I have given this hotel 5 stars is because of the staff. They really are a great team who care about the customers and try their best to make your stay the best possible.
I have and always will stay at this hotel as it's the best and most welcoming I've ever stayed in . It makes my trips to Gibraltar feel more like I'm coming home.
The rating of 9 reflects the difficult situation the hotel is in as it goes through major refurbishment. Allowances have to be made for these situations, we were never inconvenienced in any way. OK, one lift was out of commission (being replaced) and this did mean we incurred slightly longer waits, especially at weekend breakfast times. At all times staff were pleasant and helpful. The new roof top pool is excellent and once the bar is installed and the restaurant refurbished it will rival the best with ease. We stayed in a newly refurbished room and compared to the old style of room it had a light and airy feel to it. Everything in the room was new and functioned perfectly..
The newly renovated room was really nice love the style, my only criticism would be the Air conditioning unit is level with the bed so the person on that side gets colder than they should.

Excellent hotel, great service, friendly staff! The room was perfect and we really enjoyed the pool, very relaxing. This hotel has a great location with walking distance to almost everything in Gibraltar. Definitely recommend staying here!
My husband and I, always enjoy our stay at the O'Callaghan in Gibraltar. This time, our shower had not been cleaned and we spoke to reception who dealt with this immediately. All the staff we dealt with were polite and very obliging and we will be back soon.

Fantastic hotel with friendly professional staff. Place is well kept & very clean. The rooms are new, modern & we'll looked after. Amazing views & a couple of minutes walk from the main city center road. There is a small gym & a roof top pool. Restaurant and bar downstairs with a decent selection of food and drinks. Had a very pleasant stay.
Very happy with this place my only regrets is to have booked the hotel with sweet Gibraltar wedding who frankly was horrible and we’re late to give me a confirmation for the hotel room... the hotel was fab but sweet Gibraltar wedding suck so so so bad!! Horribly unprofessional unlike this hotel who were very kind and great!
We had a room on the 7th floor with a beautiful view of the water. The staff were very lovely and added an extra nice quality to the overall experience. We had an older room so it was dated but they are in the process of renovations so next time we stay there I think it will be much better. Excellent fish and chips. Everything we had on the menu was very good and we ate all of our meals at the hotel.
Have stayed at The Elliot previously, based on that experience decided to return.
Staff are friendly, attentive and always ready to help out.
I would particularly like to thank Attila from the Veranda Bar who takes time to converse and make you feel welcome.
The only negative for this stay was that the room air conditioning wasn't very effective. It was fine on my last visit which was in December and far cooler, but in the summer heat and humidity it can be difficult to get to sleep. I'm sure that this will be sorted out with the current refurbishment and I very much look forward to staying here again.
A very nice Hotel with everything that you need when staying away from home.
The pool is small but very nice and the water was perfect.
Only issue at the moment is building work going on and the pool area not finished. Was of course warned about this before booking so was expecting it.
Once finished I would give this Hotel top marks.
Lovely stay in Gibraltar. Didn't know the hotal was being refurbished when we booked only found out a couple of weeks before departure, however, the room was acceptable. The staff more than made up for the inconvenience they were very helpful and attentive especially Kat the receptionist who arranged an amazingly trip to Morocco which we would strongly recommend, and the waiters where nothing was too much trouble for them.
Nice hotel, we've stayed before, but undergoing refurbishment at the moment. We were advised of this prior to our stay, but unfortunately there was no mention that the balconies would be covered in scaffolding. The updated rooms are nice but the keys/locks are a bit awkward. I also had to ask for housekeeping on the second day as our room was not cleaned. The new pool looks nice, but there is building work going on all around it. There were also some very noisy guests there during our stay so unfortunately this was the least enjoyable of our three stays.
I have scored this at 8 as the current refurbishment does impact though in fairness only a little. The whole team welcomed us and were most helpful. I have to particularly singe out Lorraine who did all she could to meet our requests. We had a most enjoyable few days.
Very nice remodeled room (although the floor tile person was definitely sloppy)! Front desk service was excellent. Remodeling noise was not pleasant but understandable and within the designated hours. The refilling of the breakfast buffet was too slow (on the third day we actually got potatoes and bacon at the same breakfast) but the selection and prep were good. With a few tweeks and the remodel completed I can certainly see this getting a 10 in the future.
Very comfortable refurbished room. The staff polite, friendly and helpful. Good location just off the main Street. The breakfast was generally good although the food was tepid when it should have been hot.
We were travelling as an all-male group, for a friend's 50th birthday celebration, so maybe not a typical group. However, I can say that the hotel met all of our needs. We were aware that there was extensive building works taking place, as described on the hotel website. The only elements of the works that impacted on my experience, were the scaffolding and associated dust around my balcony, which meant the hotel room window had to stay closed, and the facilities around the rooftop pool. Given that access to the pool is via lift and then 3 flights of stairs, the lack of any toilet facilities and possibly, a temporary bar selling drinks and snacks, was a shame.
Other than that, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, the lobby bar and restaurant was nice and the rooms (we were in a newly refurbished room) were amazing.
I intend to return to the hotel once the work is complete, as the designs for the 8th floor, in particular, look amazing.
Hotel well situated. Currently undergoing renovation so some facilities were restricted by the work being done - only one lift and the swimming pool area is not fully functional. Our room on the 4th floor was excellent though not enough shelving for clothes. The view of the town and rock was breath taking.
The Elliot is still in the grips of a compete refurbishment although it finally appears to be coming to an end. The rooms now have an excellent shower, a mini fridge and a flat screen TV with perfect reception, a very different experience to just a couple of years ago. My only gripe is that there is little hanging space for clothes and a chest of drawers or tallboy would be a great help. The WiFi is free and fairly strong.
I found the staff to be always helpful although probably overworked and underpaid. There were times on busy nights when it was hard to catch a waiters attention but that's a minor thing.
Hotel has an excellent central location. Staff are friendly, helpful, and courteous, Room was a good size, comfortable, clean, with all necessary amenities, eg tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, and iron. At check in we double parked and left the key with hotel staff at there suggestion, who later parked the car when a space became available. We also had arrived early and were pleasantly surprised when we were informed that the room was available for check in. Overall a very pleasant experience.
In general the hotel is good, the room was very nice, clean and a comfortable bed, the only small issue was the air conditioning unit was a little noisy even on the slowest fan setting.
The breakfast we had was very nice and good value as were the drinks from the bar, the evening menu was a bit disappointing so we only dined with you once.
The staff generally were polite and helpful but unfortunately there is definite a problem with the evening staff particularly the waiter, on two occasions we sat at a table hoping to be served and the waiter looked at us and just walked away, while we waited another couple sat at the next table and the same thing happened they eventually got up and left , I got up and asked the waiter for menu's but he got distracted and they never came so i went and found some myself, i had to beckon him over to place our order as he ignored us again during his empty handed tour of the outside seating area, the food came out as ordered but without my drink which still hadn't arrived when i had finished my meal so i beckoned over and asked again for my drink and a further drink for my wife, mine arrived but i had to go to the bar and get my wifes drink myself, it's a shame because the hotel is very nice but an attentive service is what we are paying for and expect. We did notice that when the person we assumed was the duty manager was working he was very attentive and aware of where guests were and the service was much better.
NOTE: Following discussions with other guest I feel you should be aware that there are many occasions when meals and drinks are being consumed by guests & visitors throughout the day that are not being paid for or booked to room accounts, one guest told us that he had only had one breakfast put on his account and sometimes had several drinks during the evening for free and he knew other guests were doing the same thing, the main reason being the same waiter was not asking for guests details and nothing was getting charged to anyone, when we asked to settle our account one evening most of the rounds of drinks we had were not on the bill my wife had to tell them what we had in order to pay for them, for the sake of some proper staff training and supervision your profits and guest ratings will suffer.
For the price we paid we felt that the bar & restaurant service should be much better, all other staff were good, the hotel is nice and when the refurbishment is complete could be very good indeed, but poor staff could ruin it.
Could be excellent, misses out in many areas. Kept reminding them to refresh toiletries, air conditioning only any good if you were close to it, no hotel info in room, bed looked good but not comfortable. Breakfast offering ok.
Luxury hotel just behind Main Street.
Room is quiet and comfortable.
Bathroom is well furnished and cleaned every day.
Pool is on the 8th floor, where there is the breakfast area from 7:00am to 10:30am.
At the moment there are some works in progress at the reception and the entrance of the hotel, so some noise could disturb you.
Overall is a good hotel.
In general our stay was quite reasonable. Will elaborate IF the subject matters arise. POINTS TO MAKE:- On arrival was NOT located on floor requested(No problem). My request was for a TWIN room, was presented with a DOUBLE (again no major problem, staff quickly resolved it).1. Suggest a toilet brush be facilitated. 2. Instructions regarding AIR CON (appeared non provided). 3. I was told by a local, a letter was left for me on arrival, did not appear (can not confirm) Staff were helpful in attempting to find same. 4. Half way through BREAKFAST was requested to move table to assist preparation for a larger group, we did. (Again, no major problem, just a slight inconvenience.)
I booked the facilities on line, not requesting any sort of discount etc. In general all went quite smoothly, the staff were in the main were very helpful, although the odd ONE OR TWO, had a problem with their English, especially in the restaurant . Our stay was not hampered in any of these comments and our stay at YOUR hotel was enjoyable, I would recommend it other persons visiting your establishment. I do hope the alterations are completed soon. Regarding the bathroom, as an afterthought, I believe the shower floor in Room 218, may need some attention. Do hope these comments help.
The renovations seriously affect enjoyment of the hotel. We had planned to use the pool but didn't as the surrounding area is not relaxing. We couldn't use the room balcony because of the scaffolding.
All staff were friendly, helpful, efficient. Jesus in the restaurant was particularly pleasant and helpful.
The food was excellent, fresh and delicious.
We had a renovated room, but the trim in the bathroom was already deteriorating. The bed was comfortable.
Housekeeping was very poor, some days our bed was made, some days not. Bins not emptied, towels never replaced, or folded, coffee not replaced, cups washed some days, not on others. Others had pool towels placed in their room, we did not, I have no idea whether this was intentional or not. We stayed 4 nights.
It's hard to say whether I would recommend this hotel. It's location is very convenient, but until the renovations are completed visitors should be aware of the disruption. The housekeeping standards are not in keeping with the rest of our experience here.
Refurbished room was nice, but final inspection must've been missed (paint splash on new switches/power outlets). Room was lovely but bearing in mind we're a family of 3, there was nowhere to put our clothes, so they had to stay in suitcase. Breakfast was chaotic, as there was clearly not enough seating inside for the number of guests staying. View from balcony was of scaffolding but this was expected & explained at booking.
Pool was freezing & also part of a building site - not a pleasant place to be.
Understanding that the hotel is in the process of being renovated, the room rate did not reflect this. I understand the hotel needs to remain open while this is going on, but should really have less guests staying so that the breakfast area isn't so chaotic.
Drilling noise unbearable on all floors with renovations in progress. Fortunately subsides after 6pm. Otherwise a very good, cozy and conveniently located hotel with good vantage point over the entire Gibraltar
Was not told about major refurbishment, No pool, scafolding all around and restaurant closed so had to use bar for breakfast which was very overcrowded. Room, which had not been upgraded was clean and a nice size for our stay. Staff were on the whole very good apart from breakfast when most got very stressed. Should be excellent when the refurbishment is completed.
Nice bathroom. Enjoyed the night with live band. Friendly staff. One thing we just hated was that the rooms are 'connecting' with a door separating between us we could hear when occupants in the other room are chatting, closing their door or flushing the toilet. The noise coming from the other room kept us up the whole night. Disappointing.
We were not aware that the hotel was not finished. The building noise on the 4th floor was extremely loud during the day right up to 7pm. Otherwise very nice room and good location. No Hairdryer.
OK hotel. On the expensive side. My room was one of the ones that had been renovated Plenty of building works happening.
Only 1 working lift and 2 in total, with no apparent stair option which was strange.
Good location for the old town.
The hotel itself was beautiful and clean, in a good location right next to the shopping street. The staff was pleasant and there were no flaws in the hotel. However, the restaurant was awful (excluding the breakfast buffet). The staff ignored us and we had to wait 10 minutes until we ordered our drinks and then we waited to order. Him and other servers were talking while there were people waiting to order yet they did not give a single care in the world. After an hour we decided to pay for the drinks and leave. The server was extremely rude to us and didn't even care when we left which is strange considering that we were going to spend money there. We then had to go eat somewhere else. Terrible experience of the restaurant. Would never recommend.
The reason why it's only a 5 is the fact when I rang the hotel direct not through an agent, I asked the lady for a room with a sea view, she said it was a price and no problem. When I arrived I was given a room at the back of the hotel over looking a car park,I was not happy as this was my partners first time to Gibraltar. There was also loud music from a cafe below to add to my frustration. When I complained I was told there were no rooms available with a sea view!!!!! Had I known this I would not have booked this hotel and this room cost me a lot of money. To cap it all the lifts were extremely slow and it was quicker to walk the 5 floors to my room. So all in all I was not happy with the service at this establishment plus we had driven into Gibraltar and found it difficult to find as no signs were on the outside of the building and actually drove past it twice. We are well travelled and generally stay in 5 star hotels so very disappointed with my stay here. Regards
Some staff are very helpful, others merely tolerate your presence.
The restaurant food is over priced (even for a hotel) for what you get. Soup of Day (the staff joked it was actually Soup of the Month) was good. The burgers that followed were quite over cooked, missing the mature cheddar and something like a side salad was absent. It took ages for the courses to arrive for some reason - it wasn’t busy. It took about 75 minutes for the burgers to appear.
The room was good. We had a refurbished room and it was nicely done and well appointed. The Chromecast is a great touch
For a, considered, upmarket hotel it was disappointing. I believe the daily rate to be inflated purely because it is capturing the bride market. It is being refurbished and their rate should reflect that. The room was refurbished but the colouring and furnishings were less than expected. The clean was average, bed large high and comfy. The bathroom good but you had to put the toilet seat cover down to flush the loo. The English cooked breakfast was varied. Opens at 07.00 we arrived at 08.00 well within open hours and the breakfast, which was stored in lidded containers, was lukewarm. No staff advised you of procedure for ordering hot drinks, a fellow guest called the waiter for us. The decaf coffee I ordered came in a sachet!!!!!! I asked if there was a perforated choice, he said he'd look and never came back!! The whole place disappointing

we stayed in room 609 and drills started at 9am until 6pm. cranes out the back window. no pool facilities or roof terrace. staff attitude wasnt great.
I normally do not leave reviews. I was about to complain in person at the reception and I am glad that you are now giving me the opportunity to express my thoughts.
I believe that the hotel itself and the size of the bedroom, definitely match the standard that I was expecting. But unfortunately there were many aspects during my stay that totally disappointed me.
First of all when I discovered at my arrival that breakfast was not included, for the cost that I paid for my room this was a very big disappointment.
My trip to Gibraltar was a combination of business and holidays and I had to spend several hours working from my bedroom. If I had known that the hotel was under construction works, I would have never booked in with you.
The noise in some occasion was even impeding me to have a proper conversion over the phone. And more importantly, sometimes I had to wait up to 5 minutes to use the lift due to the fact that only one lift was operating. At the end of my stay I was using the emergency staircase most of the time.
On top of this the most annoying thing was the internet connection speed. The connection was so poor that in several cases I had to wait for half an hour to download very light PDF files. I mentioned it at the reception and I was told that this was absolutely normal and it was probably depending on the heavy traffic.
Other than this there were other small detail that I do not find acceptable I an hotel like yours and definitely not ant the cost that I paid.
The first day there was no toilet brush in my bathroom and I had too as at the reception to provide one.
The air conditioner is very loud.
When I finished the 4 coffee capsules that I had in the bedroom, they were replaced with new ones only after 2 days.
I hope that you understand my frustration.

Had to walk out of the Elliott’s Hotel lobby bar today. We are weekly customers , I take my daughter every Tuesday for dinner there and though the service can be improved today was the last straw. After waiting for half an hour for anyone to acknowledge we were there , a group of people came up to the bar and the lady started serving them. The same lady that had watched us for half an hour and totally ignored us. Much to the disappointment of my very hungry 11 year old I walked out with her crying complaining that she was hungry and wanted to stay. There was no way I was going to stay after that. The place is lovely , the food is great but unfortunately the service stinks. We are now happily eating somewhere else where the service is as excellent as it’s food.
