We’ve put together a handy walking guide with a few of the best footpaths to take a stroll down, so you can the best of what Gibraltar has to offer.

Devil’s Gap

The Devil’s Gap Battery is a decommissioned antique anti-aircraft battery that has been used for military defensive purposes in a number of wars and conflicts, including The Great Siege of Gibraltar and The Spanish Civil War. Visit this historic site by taking a walk along the Devil’s Gap footpath, which links the battery with Gibraltar’s upper town. The route will give you amazing views of the cityscape and the bay, which will make some great photos for your holiday album.

Set out from the upper town and make your way to Devil’s Point, which has been used historically as a strategic point and derives its name from the Spanish Punta del Diablo. It’s believed that this historic footpath has been around since the early 18th century, which means that you’ll be walking through one of the oldest known pathways in Gibraltar. In 2013 the Devil’s Gap was refurbished to increase the width of the path and include informational signposts so you can learn more about the history of the local area.
